Take an object. Do something to it. Do something else to it.
— Jasper Jphns

Jasper Johns has earned his fame in New York in 1958 mostly by his images of flags, numbers and maps. The ‘Something Resembling Truth’ exhibition in the Royal Academy of Arts is quite a unique one as it comprises artist’s paintings, drawings and prints of the past 60 years that rarely travel from international private and public collections including some very new pieces and some of his unseen works. Widely regarded as one of the most important artists of the 20th century, in 2011 Johns became the first artist since 1978 to be awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom.

The exhibition will be on view until 10 December 2017 at the Royal Academy of Arts, Burlington House, Piccadilly, W1J 0BD

Hymn For The Weekend

Rachel Whiteread

Is it possible to see negative space? London-born artist Rachel Whiteread is internationally known for turning our focus to the invisible spaces around us. Using materials like concrete, resin, and even snow, she creates sculptures of the surrounding space between, under, or otherwise around things. This autumn, Tate Britain invites its visitors to celebrate over 25 years of Rachel’s artistic career who was the first woman to win the Turner Prize in 1993. Whiteread’s sculptures have to be seen to be appreciated; so look closer and you'll find things you didn't think were there: surprising materials, unseen spaces, and the human stories hidden within them.

The show runs until 21 January 2018 at the Tate Britain, Millbank, London SW1P 4RG

Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

Follow Alice down the rabbit hole in Christopher Wheeldon’s exuberant ballet, inspired by Lewis Carroll’s much-loved book. The story stays the same: Alice follows a white rabbit down a rabbit hole and her life transforms into a very curious fairy-tale, but it performed in very extraordinary way. There is a definite modern twist to this ballet, with plenty of humorous choreography that makes the most of Joby Talbot’s (music) wonderful score. The whole ballet is true feast for the eyes: costumes, stage decoration, music, choreography – is very inventive, imaginative and at the same time sophisticated and makes the spectators feel as if they are also a part of Alice’s Wonderland.

The performances will be happening from 27 Sep until 28 Oct 2017, at the Royal Opera House, Bow Street, Covent Garden, WC2E 9DD

This interactive abstract art installation “WALALA x PLAY” will brighten even the dullest day in London. A British-born digital print designer Camille Walala might be familliar for her extraordinary use of colour and for the positive vibe in her works (Walala has decorated a building in Shoreditch and designed a pedestrian crossing near Tate Modern). The installation is an immersive maze full of zigzag paths, mirrors and dead ends, encouraging visitors to fully engage their minds and imagination, which gives this experience a unique touch.

The exhibition will be on view until 24 September 2017 at the Now Gallery, The Gateway Pavilions, Peninsula Square, Greenwich Peninsula, SE10 0SQ
